Arcadia High School Marching Band at Loara Band Review on 31-Oct-2009. This was the 3rd competition of the season for Arcadia. The colour guard won the high school auxiliary sweepstakes with a score of 95.75. The band was placed second in the high scholl band review with a score 93.15. The drum major scored 91.7 and was placed second in the high school military drum major category. Loara was my first outdoors daylight shoot in the bright and blistering mid-noon sun with the Canon HV20 with a 0.7x wide angle converter and a 0.6 neutral density filter. Arcadia's step-off was at around 1:30pm and the parade route was south to north, so I was shooting into the sun (and without a lens hood, I used my left hand as you can see briefly!) before the band passed my position. Unfortunately I left the exposure control in aperture priority automatic mode hence the lack of backlight compensation during the first half of this clip. Original footage recorded in HDV format.
